EVGA confirmed that all RTX 3090s that were affected in the New World closed beta would be replaced.
EVGA has announced that it will replace allof its Geforce RTX3090 graphics card that have been affected by the closed beta of Amazon. According to a spokesperson from PC Gamer, “Yes, all 3090s that fail will be replaced.” There were a few players who took part in the closed beta version of the game complained about their graphics card being broken, EVGA the RTX 3090 card in particular.
While the exact issue wasn’t yet known, Amazon came out and claimed that there was nothing to do between the graphic card issues and the New World closed beta. “Hundreds of thousandsof people participated in the New World Closed Beta yesterdayin total, with millions of hours played,” Amazon said. Amazon, “We’ve received a few reports of people using high-performance graphics cards experiencing hardware failure when playing New World.”
In addition, the statement states that New World uses standard DirectX calls that are provided by the Windows API. It also noted that there haven’t been any issues with the EVGA RX3090s during closed beta testing, or in the months of beta testing.
Amazon released an update for everyone, even though they stated that there were no problems. Amazon announced that the New World Closed Beta was safe to play. “To further reassure players, I’m implementing an update today that will limit the number of frames I display in my menu screen. We are grateful for the love and support New World receives from players from all over the world. We will continue to hear their feedback throughout Beta and beyond.
For those experiencing issues, Amazon further added, “We think this may be related to the driver settings and frame rate limiters, Nvidia RTX 3090 series, and 100% GPU usage.” Players were then advised to disable the overrides within the driver settings and to cap the maximum FPS at 60 in order to alleviate the issue.
New World was originally supposed to begin its launch in August 2020 however, it was subsequently delayed numerous times. To make major improvements, the date of launch has been pushed back to Aug 31. “We have been working to create compelling features for the final game that we believe are essential to have when the game launches. The dev team stated that these features would not be made available until the timeframe for Spring that we had specified.
