Gary Bowie (left) is a battalion
chief with LA City Fire Department, and Larry Fuller (right) is currently
a Chief's Assistant with LA City Fire Department. Both Larry and Gary have
been on the Ventura County SAR Dive Team for many years and share with us
their expertise on the ICS.
The presentation
the two professionals brought to All-Team training involved an actual
incident (fire) that occurred in Van Nuys, and showed the role the dynamic
positions of ICS played in such a scenario.

Tim Coates, being
the first to arrive, became the Incident Commander.

His hat is quickly changed, however, as other arrive.

And Tim becomes a Section Leader in charge
operations.

Tom Millington wears the hat of
a Division Leader.

Section Leaders and Division
Leaders work closely together.

As the incident grows, Group
Leaders are assigned. This leader (in Sponge Bob hat) heads up the
Fire Attack group.

Tim has once again changed hats
to become a Group Leader. He is now in charge of Rapid Intervention.

Thanks to the whole crew for
illustrating how the modular ICS is set up to expand as needed in dynamic
operations.
